Following a couple of accidental drops, I can attest to this headset’s durability, but you’ll need to spend more money if you want your headset to feel more expensive. And that plasticky feeling doesn’t make the headset feel unstable. The downside to this flexibility is that the headset does feel pretty plasticky but considering the price point, I wouldn’t expect it to feel as hefty or premium as the Razer Opus X or the Razer Kraken V3 HyperSense. I have a fairly small head, so I rarely struggle with headsets being too small, but the flexibility on show here is great news for anyone who regularly struggles to find the perfect fit. The ear cups are padded and comfortable, and I didn’t feel any discomfort –whether wearing glasses, earrings or both.Īs you can see from the image below, this headset is pretty flexible, and you can easily push the ear cups out and away from each other without feeling like you’ll do any damage. At just 246g, I could wear the headset for hours on end while gaming without it pushing down on my neck. I’m a huge fan of its weight, or lack thereof. My review unit was white, although you can pick it up in black, white, mint, grey and lilac colourways if you’re after something a little jazzier looking. There’s no RGB lighting or particularly flashy colours like what you’ll find on more expensive headsets, such as the Corsair HS80 RGB Wireless or Razer Kaira X. Design and Featuresĭesign-wise, the Astro A10 Gen 2 sports a pretty basic and fairly discrete look for a gaming device. I had the opportunity to use the headset for about two weeks with my PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. It aims to offer buyers on a budget a reliable cabled headset for prolonged gaming sessions. The second-generation Astro A10 (Gen 2) is the successor to the original Astro A10 headset, coming in at the same low price but with an overhauled design. Steam is currently in the midst of its Lunar New Year Sale for 2022. Because if there's one thing we're all suffering from, it's a shortage of Steam sales, right? It's not a seismic shift from the gamer perspective, but it does mean that games can be put on sale more often over the course of the year, and that you will thus have more opportunities to throw your money at them.
The only named female character is a badass babe named Mako Mori, a rookie pilot tasked with fighting off the Kaijus, huge monsters who have attacked Hong Kong. So when Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim came out, Internet feminists who had high hopes for the film were dismayed by the lack of representation of women – it fails the Bechdel test on the first point. (I’m not even going to go into manic pixie dream girls right now.) Movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s pass, but only on technicalities though Holly Golightly is a sweet society girl, her narrative arc relies on men – Paul Varjack, Sally Tomato, José da Silva Pereira – to come to resolution. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo features possibly the biggest badass of the new millennium, but Lisbeth Salander is the film’s only named female character, and so the movie fails. Zero Dark Thirty, which was both directed by an Oscar-winning woman and starred a woman as the HBIC in a male-dominated workplace, barely passes the Bechdel test, and fails it after the first half of the film. The Bechdel test, created by comics artist Alison Bechdel in 1985 for her strip D ykes to Watch Out For, is a quick and dirty meter of a film’s female-friendliness, but doesn’t encompass the full scope or complexity of what it takes for something to be pro-women. (To test if a film is people-of-color-friendly, replace “female” with “non-white” and “man” with “white person.”)) (For those of you who don’t know, the Bechdel test is a three-step process to determine whether or not a film is women-friendly: a film passes if it has 1) two named female characters 2) who talk to each other 3) about something other than a man. The Bechdel test made it especially easy for us to enumerate these weaknesses. For feminist film lovers, it’s really, really hard to casually see a movie without being brutally aware of its shortcomings: specifically, it’s really hard not to notice when a film features fewer women than, say, your workplace does. However, every year young drivers (aged 17-24) still account for a disproportionately high number of reported road accidents compared to their representation of around 7% of road users and lower road usage in terms of miles driven. It is true that young drivers tend to have quicker reactions than older motorists in hazard perception testing. Moreover, road casualty reductions have largely levelled off since 2010 meaning improving hazard perception skills remains a critical concern. With an average of 5 people killed every day on UK roads, and countless more people seriously injured, improving hazard perception skills is vital to improving road safety. Hazard perception involves a variety of techniques including: scanning planning in advance maintaining a safe distance driving at an appropriate speed, and anticipating danger well, amongst many other skills. For example, if they notice a sign indicating a pedestrian crossing, they may prepare to adjust their speed and check their mirrors or if they are approaching a cyclist they may need to check their mirrors, speed, and change their position on the road. Simply put, hazard perception is the ability of drivers to spot potentially dangerous situations as soon as possible in order that they are able to adapt their driving as appropriate. Fortunately, you can practice the Hazard Perception Test beforehand both through practice video clips offered on this website and by being acutely aware of hazards each time you have a driving lesson.īelow is a video of the official Introduction to Hazard Perception video clip, together with an explanation of What to Expect in the actual Hazard Perception test: Through the Hazard Perception Test, you are being assessed on your awareness of the risks that are present on the road and the danger these can pose to yourself, your passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians. However, the Theory Test is no longer simply a set of multiple-choice questions, and since 2001 this exam has the addition of the Hazard Perception Test which takes place afterwards – you need to pass both sections of the Theory Test in order to get your certificate. The Hazard Perception Test, as the name suggests, is designed to test your ability to identify hazards that are upcoming on the road and does this through a video-based system which requires you to click the mouse whenever you notice a hazard.Īs you will know, in order to gain your full driving licence you are required to pass both the driving theory test and practical test before you can enjoy the freedom of the open road alone. 12 Practice the Hazard Perception Test Online.7 Hazard Perception Test Explained: FAQs.6 What can I expect from the Hazard Perception Test?.5 Are professional ADI, LGV and PCV drivers required to take a hazard perception test?.4 Does the evidence back up the need for a Hazard Perception Test?. I needed the experience of my own family, children, a career, and the accompanying failures and successes to put these very elements at risk for a fictional family. I don’t think it’s a novel I could have written as a younger man. My research explores how the global rise of renewable energy intersects with Indigenous peoples. My newest novel, The Tenderest of Strings, comes out of this lifelong ambivalence to find where you belong and to whom you belong.
